The Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) is the only statewide professional membership association dedicated exclusively to the profession of veterinary medicine and the interests of the veterinary team. Established in 1883, PVMA membership has grown from its original 22 founding members to 3,800+ members. Today, we represent every member of the veterinary team. The focus of our association is professional development, advocacy, and practice vitality to ensure the continued success of our members.

Jennifer A. Keeler is a Certified Association Executive with over 25 years of experience in association management and corporate marketing. She recently served as Executive Director of the World Surgical Foundation. She also acted as Executive Director to several medical specialty societies as an Association Executive in the Specialty Society Management Services Department of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Jennifer was recognized as State Executive of the Year by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is a five-time recipient of the Model State Society Award from the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. Jennifer lives in Hummelstown, PA with her husband Jonathan, twin daughters Anna and Sydney, and their cats Dusty and Mittens. Her father, Richard A. Vaclavik, VMD, was a past-president of PVMA and practiced in Millersburg, PA for 53 years.

Megan is a CVT from Pennsylvania. She is a 2008 graduate from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. She has been practicing veterinary medicine for 10+ years. Megan has worked in emergency, clinical practice, research and education. She is not only our Director of Education and Events, but is also an adjunct instructor at a local veterinary technology program in York, PA. She lives with 4 monsters; two human, her husband and her two-year-old son and two GSP canines. All of them keep her pretty busy!

Michaelene joins PVMA with 9 years of association experience. She served as a Member Service Specialist at the Pennsylvania Medical Society and later as Financial Services Manager at the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, where she provided bookkeeping and financial services to 30+ medical associations. She has worked as a mathematics writer and editor for over 20 years at Larson Texts in Erie, PA. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, especially at her favorite beach, Hilton Head Island, SC. She lives in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Dave. She has two fur babies, a cat Millie and a dog Penny.

She also holds an Associate Specialized Degree in Marketing and Merchandising Management. She is married and has two pups, Ollie and Marnie, both rescue Cockapoos. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, tasting the latest microbrew and trying out new restaurants. Jen’s professional background includes over 20 years of experience in marketing, membership, event planning, and business development. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with Bachelors of Science degrees in both Marketing and Management. She and her son, Peyton along with her fiancé Patrick and his son Carter, enjoy the outdoors and their growing number of pets: 2 dogs, 4 cats, rabbit, hamster, goldfish, and expanding flock of chickens, ducks and turkeys. Jen’s favorite place to be is either in her Jeep Wrangler out on the trails, or on the water kayaking, jet skiing, or boating at Lake Raystown with family and friends.

Katie is a Certified Veterinary Technician from Pennsylvania and has been in the veterinary field since 2004. Most of her time has been working in general practice and orthopedics. She has a Bachelor of Science from Wilson College in Veterinary Medical Technology and an Associate in Arts degree from Harrisburg Area Community College in Business Administration. She is happily married with two wonderful kids, a son, and a daughter. Her four-legged family members are Danny, a Cesky Fousek, and Poppy, a Doodle/Australian Cattle dog mix. In her spare time, Katie enjoys volunteer coaching with her kid’s sports and spending leisure time on the river or at the beach with friends and family.

Ashley is excited to join the PVMA staff after having worked as a zookeeper at ZooAmerica in Hershey, PA for the last 8 years. A love of animals has always been part of who she is. She is a 2011 graduate of Shippensburg University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. At the zoo she joins her passion for training with the idea of creating a positive environment for the animals in her care to voluntarily participate in some of their own veterinary and husbandry needs. A native of the area, she currently lives in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania with her husband Adam, and two rescued animals, a dog named Dingo and a cat named Sky. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering and fundraising for animal rescues as well as traveling the world with her husband, especially visiting his hometown of Sydney, Australia.

Marisa Francis serves as Executive Director of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association. She has over 16 years of association, corporate and small business management experience. Most recently, she served as Executive Director for the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society. Prior to that, she acted as Executive Director to several medical specialty societies at the Pennsylvania Medical Society. She graduated with a degree in Communications from the University of Maryland at College Park. Marisa lives in Elizabethtown, PA with her husband, Paul, and kids Owen and Abigail. She is also mom to four-legged kids, Rosco, Clover and Kevin who became international travelers when they accompanied their humans for a yearlong adventure in Nicaragua.

Christine has been with PVMA since 2003 and currently serves in the role as Director of Education & Events for Maryland Veterinary Medical Association and Animal Care PA. Christine holds an Associate’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Harrisburg Area Community College as well as a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. She earned her Certified Meeting Professional credential in May 2017.

After working as a Meeting Manager in the Association Management Department at the Pennsylvania Medical Society from 1994-2000, she took break to stay home with her young children, then joined PVMA in October 2003 to assist with conference planning. As Director of Education and Events, she was responsible for the planning and execution of 4 annual conferences, 4 annual trade shows, a 5k fundraiser, Power of 10 Leadership Academy, and many smaller meetings and events that took place within the association. In January 2019, Christine became the Director of Strategic Alliances on a part-time basis and is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key partners and pursuing strategic alliances.

Christine lives in Annville, Pennsylvania, her childhood hometown, with her husband, Kris, and 3 children, Andrew, Ellie, and Devin. She’s also a dog mom to 3 dachshunds, Boots, Paco, and Daisy. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, working in her sister-in-law’s bakery on weekends, hiking, kayaking, and heading to Cape May, New Jersey (or any beach!) every chance she gets.
