COMMITTEE AND TASKFORCE INVOLVEMENT
Being a member of our committees and taskforces allows you help shape the direction of PVMA according to what's most important to you. Our committees influence our advocacy efforts, print and electronic communications, continuing education offerings, and more.
If you're really serious about shaping PVMA's future, consider running for an open seat on the Board of Trustees. The state's counties are divided into eight districts.
Board meetings are generally held four times a year with two in-person meetings and two meetings held via phone conference. If you are interested in considering a board position, contact Executive Director Dr. Tina Dougherty.
PVMA acts as the watchdog of the veterinary profession in Pennsylvania. No one represents the veterinary profession's interests in Harrisburg as well as we do on the issues affecting veterinary practice and the welfare of animals.
Join us! Join PVMA on legislative visits, get in touch with your legislator, or write a letter. We want to be the go-to resource for the legislature on issues affecting our profession.
PUBLIC OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES

Classroom visits, school assemblies, or even talking to kids in your practice can have a great impact on children. Here are some ways to interact with kids:
- Make classroom visits
- Volunteer in our Farm Show booth or other career events
- Promote the Pennsylvania Veterinary Foundation
