Welcome to PVMA's Virtual 2020 Hall of Fame Awards

Although we could not meet in person this year at the Keystone Veterinary Conference, we hope that we were able to honor this year's winners and present them to you in the comfort and safety of your home. Congratulations to all of this year's winners, nominees, and everyone who submitted nominations. We invite everyone to think about your friends and colleagues in the profession who are deserving of being recognized. We encourage you to nominate them for the 2021 Hall of Fame Awards! PVMA believes that veterinary medicine is a noble profession with an important place in animal welfare and public health. Let’s work together to celebrate and lift up the members of our community who exemplify all that is great about veterinary medicine.

Member Awards

*If your nominee is not a member, our membership team will follow up with them and discuss membership to PVMA. If they decline membership, they will be removed as a nominee.

Veterinarian of the Year Award

Presented to a PVMA member for an outstanding service in veterinary medicine within the year in which the award is given.


Certified Veterinary Technician of the Year Award

Presented to a PVMA certified veterinary technician member for outstanding performance in veterinary technology.


Practice Manager of the Year Award

Presented to a PVMA practice manager member who has shown excellence and leadership in the field of practice management.


Veterinary Industry Partner of the Year Award

Presented to a Veterinary Industry Partner member of the PVMA for steadfast commitment to the Association and the veterinary profession.


Veterinary Assistant of the Year Award

Presented to a PVMA veterinary assistant member for outstanding service.


Public Service Award of Merit

Presented to a PVMA member for outstanding public service involving the veterinary community.


Animal Welfare Advocacy Award

Recognizes a PVMA member who has demonstrated outstanding compassion and/or developed programs for the welfare of animals.


Distinguished Veterinary Service Award

Presented to a member of the PVMA for selfless dedication to veterinary medicine, the health and welfare of animals, and the betterment of the veterinary profession over a period of years.


The George B. Wolff Legislative Leadership Award

Presented to a PVMA member veterinarian or veterinary student who has shown dedicated leadership in legislative advocacy at the state or federal level.


A. Wayne Mountan Memorial Media Award

Each year, the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association presents the Dr. A. Wayne Mountan Memorial Media Award to the news media of Pennsylvania for excellence in communicating veterinary medical contributions to animal and public health to the public within the last 5 years. Media includes, Newspapers, Magazines, Radio, Television, Blogging, Social media, etc. Please submit a link or pdfs to media projects for the committee to review.


The Joan Hendricks, VMD, PhD Distinguished Leadership in One Health Award

The Leadership in One Health Award is presented to someone who advocates and champions the One Health initiative, and collaborates partnerships that span from both human and animal health. The One Health Initiative is a movement to forge co-equal, all-inclusive collaborations between physicians, osteopathic physicians, veterinarians, dentists, nurses and other scientific-health and environmentally related disciplines.


Wodan Animal Hero Award

Recipients since the award’s creation have included the canine members of a search and rescue team from Ground Zero, an explosive detection canine, an off-duty police canine who saved his family from serious harm during a tornado, dogs who saved their family from a coyote attack, a Berks County Sheriff K-9, and four therapy dogs. Please make sure to submit the animal hero's owner information.
