The Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) is hosting a dinner meeting and we hope you will join us! This is your chance to interact with colleagues, receive an update on current initiatives within PVMA, and earn CE credits.

3 Topics to Cover:

  • Surgical Oncology, Solid Masses and Principals of Oncologic Surgery
    This presentation will provide the work up and staging of solid masses. It will also provide a detailed overview in the principals of oncologic surgery.
  • The Identification and Examination, the Cancer Cell
    This presentation will provide an overview of the extraction, examination and identification of cancerous cells.
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Revolutionizing Cancer Care for Companion Animals
    This presentation will provide an overview of Radiation Oncology and also several example cases that utilized SRS/SRT exclusively.

About the Speakers:

Anthony Pardo

Anthony Pardo, MS, DVM, DACVS

Dr. Anthony Pardo is a surgeon that in addition to oncology, is also interested in respiratory surgical conditions - tracheal collapse, laryngeal paralysis and in orthopedics - knee surgery, fractures and hip replacement. He spent five years as an associate professor of surgery at the University of Tennessee and is currently an adjunct assistant professor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His current research interests include tracheal collapse in the toy breed dog; management of cranial cruciate ligament deficiency in the dog; canine hip replacement; as well as oncologic surgery. Dr. Pardo is a surgeon, Co-Medical Director and the founder of the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center – PVSEC BluePearl Veterinary Partners.

 

 

 

Rebecca Newman

Rebecca Newman, DVM, MS, DACVIM

Dr. Rebecca Newman worked as a researcher at the National Institute of Child Health and Development in Bethesda, Maryland before vet school. She chose the veterinary medical oncology field because it allowed her to combine her love of research and molecular biology with medicine. Extensively published, she has been invited to make presentations at numerous conferences and continuing education events. Dr. Newman is Chief of Medical Oncology at Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center – PVSEC BluePearl Veterinary Partners.

 

 

 

 

Kelsey Pohlmann

Kelsey Pohlmann, DVM, MS, DACVR (RO)

Dr. Pohlmann is PetCure Oncology’s lead remote radiation oncologist. She oversees teleconsultations and treatment planning for patients and veterinarians in Western Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio. Dr. Pohlmann earned her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia before completing her residency in radiation oncology at Colorado State University’s prestigious Flint Animal Cancer Center. She has been working with PetCure Oncology since 2016.
