2019 Practitioner’s Challenge: Navigating the Most Commonly Misdiagnosed Diseases in Veterinary Medicines

The 2019 Practitioner's challenge uses actual cases from a general/referral practice and presents them for your evaluation. Challenge yourself using laboratory data including hematology, biochemical profiles, electrolytes, urinalysis and other tests. Test yourself and improve your diagnostic abilities! Discussion topics include:

  • Choose which diagnostic tests are appropriate for each patient through case presentations
  • Learn how to interpret dot plots and utilize hematologic data
  • Determine what other diagnostic testing is necessary for each case presentation
  • Tips on how to avoid common mistakes and improve diagnostic accuracy

Dr. Dennis DeNicola

About the speakers:

Dr. Dennis DeNicola completed his DVM in 1978 and his PhD in 1981, both at Purdue University, where for more than 20 years he served as educator in clinical and surgical pathology and directed the clinical pathology laboratory. A medical affairs fellow and clinical pathologist at IDEXX, he received the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Fred Metzger

Dr. Fred Metzger is a 1986 graduate of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and an adjunct professor at the Pennsylvania State University. A published textbook and article coauthor, he owns the Metzger Animal Hospital in State College, Pennsylvania.
