Who Is PVMA? |
The Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) is the only statewide
professional membership organization dedicated exclusively to the profession of
veterinary medicine and the interests of veterinarians, their clients and
patients.
Established in 1883, PVMA membership has grown from its original 22
founding members to an organization representing over 1,900 veterinarians and
500 veterinary students. Our members represent the broad spectrum of veterinary
medicine, including, but not limited to, small animal, large animal, exotic,
bovine and equine practitioners, and those veterinarians working in research and
academic capacities.
PVMA hosts 3-4 continuing education meetings per year across the state, as well
as Evening Veterinary Education (EVE) webinars throughout the year on timely or
continuing education topics. We work closely with the veterinary students at
Penn Vet to educate them on current issues in veterinary medicine and offer free
membership while they are in school. PVMA has also become more active in
addressing important veterinary issues in the legislature, establishing the
association as the go-to resource for lawmakers on topics relating to veterinary
medicine. |
