Our Mission
Advancing animal welfare and human health while ensuring the vitality of the
profession.
Our Objectives
The objectives of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association are:
- To advance the science and art of veterinary medicine, including the
relationship of the profession to public health;
- To foster, maintain, and enlarge public understanding of the nature of the
practice of veterinary medicine and its relationships to the whole community of
the Commonwealth in its treatment and care of the animal population
- To extend to the agricultural community and the community at large the benefits
of sound and progressive leadership in the care and treatment of animals and the
protection and advancement of the agricultural industry
- To provide leadership and training to foster public awareness of the
interrelationships of animal care and human care in our economy and society
- To do all other things necessary and desirable to further high standards of care
in the treatment of animals and continuing standards of excellence in the
professional training and continuing education of veterinary medical doctors
- To promote goodwill among its members and to seek protection of their rights and
privileges
- To perform those functions provided by the Act of the Legislature under which
the Association in incorporated; and To advance the maintenance of ethical
standards which reflect the learned nature of the profession and the peculiar
responsibilities of the veterinary medical practitioner to the whole community
of the Commonwealth
