On Tuesday, June 19, PVMA will show you how to let your voice be heard as part of Pennsylvania's veterinary community. There is a full day of events and options for you to consider! 8:35-9:20 am Legislative Briefing—Top Concerns for Veterinary Professionals in Pennsylvania’s General Assembly: Mary Jane McNamee, JD, VMD, Chair, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee
9:20-9:30 am Top Five Things You Need to Consider When Building a Relationship with Your Legislator: Stacy Gromlich, PVMA Lobbyist, Duane Morris Government Strategies
9:30 am Instructions for Visits and Adjourn: Charlene Wandzilak, CAE Executive Director
10:00 am-1:00 pm Legislative Visits with Your Representative and Senator
1:00-2:00 pm Lunch Break (lunch included)
OPTIONS FOR AFTERNOON
Capitol Tour: participate in a guided tour of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building. Hear about the architecture and history that makes our state capitol building one of the nation’s most beautiful gems. Guided tours are offered every half hour until 4:00 pm.
Legislative Visits: help represent PVMA with PVMA’s lobbyist Stacy Gromlich by participating in additional legislative visits with some of the General Assembly’s newest members and their staff (2:00-4:30 pm).
Board of Trustees Meeting: (offsite location at Hilton Harrisburg; a short walk from the Capitol) attend the PVMA Board of Trustees meeting and see how PVMA’s governing body discusses business and considers issues for the association (2:00-4:30 pm).
Friends of Veterinary Medicine Reception at the Capitol Building, East Wing Rotunda: co-hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, the reception is a nice way to end the day by socializing with legislators, their staff, state agency leaders, and members of stakeholder organizations.
