Veterinarian participation in this process is important because the opportunity allows PVMA to participate in assessing the quality of the education available to veterinary technicians in Pennsylvania which directly impacts the potential hiring pool for your practice. PVMA is looking for someone who is willing to volunteer for this upcoming site visit. As the VMA representative, we are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in identifying if the program adheres to state rules and regulations.
Please note the veterinarian volunteer must not have the following conflicts of interest:
- Be a member of the program’s advisory committee or IACUC
- Past or present employment by the institution or program being evaluated.
- Service as a consultant for the institution/program being evaluated.
Volunteers are asked to attend a 2.5 day on-site visit to the program, read through the program self-study report, and assist in developing a report of evaluation. Travel, food, and lodging expenses incurred in connection with the site visit are reimbursed; however, honorariums are not paid.
If you have any specific questions regarding the process or the visit, please contact Julie Horvarth, CVTEA Accreditation Manager at the AVMA Center for Veterinary Medical Education Accreditation. She can be reached at 800.248.2862 ext. 6624 or firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Charlene Wandzilak, Executive Director, at email@example.com or call 888.550.7862.
